Spotted: Mercedes' Model X Rival
Looks like Mercedes is prepared to take on the EV market.
The Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV, which is expected to launch in 2023 has been spotted testing in Germany. The EQ range of Mercedes will have two EQE named vehicles, one is a saloon and one will be this. The EQE sedan was officially confirmed by Mercedes earlier this month.
The EQE SUV was spotted by AUTOCAR last year, but there have been numerous changes in the latest shots. The new style of alloy wheels, which match up with the other EQ lineup of cars, the grille in the photos is not covered, so that the adaptive cruise control or ADAS functions work. This car is being made on a completely different platform unlike the EQC. The known rivals of this car are the Tesla Model X or the BMW iX which a fellow DriveTriber Tim Rodie just reviewed.
As Mercedes has made the EQE Saloon and the SUV, we can expect a premium EQS SUV which will definitely be more luxurious and will be priced higher. Mercedes plans to launch 10 fully electric vehicles by 2025, which will likely have the controversial EQG SUV (Literally a Electric G-Class). Power and Torque figures are not revealed yet, but it is likely to have the same power and torque output as the EQC. Range will be less than the EQE saloon because of it shape.
