Spotted - Morris Traveller
Classic wooden framed Morris Minor estate version seen in Grantham
I know it might seem eccentric but I have always loved the look of these Morris Travellers so I was happy to see this one earlier.

A bit of history
An estate version of the Morris minor, the Traveller was introduced in 1952. The Traveller has an external structural ash wood frame for the rear bodywork, with two side-hinged rear doors. The frame was not painted but varnished to make a feature of it in the design.
Travellers were built with the saloon model at Cowley but minus the rear body. The half-completed cars were then sent to MG at Abingdon where the bodies would be joined to the chassis and the final assembly done. Apparently this was because the Cowley production lines were no longer equipped to deal with 'body on frame' vehicles like the Traveller, but the MG lines could still handle these and the workers had experience working with wood framed bodies.
I've no doubt that they drive as badly as all old cars do, but somehow I've always fancied a go in one. I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has.

Not eccentric - it shows good taste.
I had to buy this 1:18 scale MINI Traveller for its wood alone.
Thanks John! Glad you think so.
I love the model.
Nice car!
Very nice!
Fascinating! Interesting how the mirrors are way down over the front wheels instead of by the windows. I bet that takes some getting used to.
Very eccentric. How can this be objectively beautifull? Its half a car bolted to half a chicken coop. Not to take anything away from you liking it. Taste is what makes us
I also covet a Ferrari 458 Speciale if that makes up for it.
