Stand and deliver
Porsche's upward sales trajectory reveals a company in rude health in its 70th year
Amid the current frenzy of fast metal from the Festival of Speed, it's time to squeeze in a very important if rather less sexy announcement: in the first two months of 2018 Porsche has delivered a staggering 130,598 vehicles, exceeding the previous record from 2017 by an extra three percent.
The new Panamera enjoyed the strongest percentage growth: 20,500 units is almost double the figure from the same period last year. The biggest numbers continue to come from the Macan at 46,600 and the Cayenne at 28,700, but the 911 also saw double-digit growth with an increase of 28 per cent to an impressive 21,400.
“In the year of our ’70 years of Porsche sports cars’ anniversary, we are especially pleased that our icon, the 911, continues to enjoy a very strong momentum,” said Detlev von Platen, Member of the Executive Board responsible for Sales and Marketing at Porsche AG. “That shows how strong and in demand our brand is.”
