Each year as the car world converges on the Monterey peninsula in sometimes sunny California Mercedes-Benz has been working behind the scene for months to bring together a stellar collection of classics. This year was no different. The theme was luxury as the scene was set for the unveiling of the Maybach Concept coupe. Everything from the Classic Adenauer sedans of the 1950's to the w111 cabriolets of the famed Bracq design of the 1960's was on display in impeccable style. Even a Maybach DS 8 Zeppelin from the the 1930's was on display. Is this truly heaven ? As starved Americans that do not have the famed Mercedes-Benz museum here in the US this is the next best thing. In the spring I start thinking what will be brought over each year. I eagerly watch Amelia Island in March as a gauge for what we could see in August. Being in the presence of greatness is pretty darn cool.
