Stay in the Water! It's a Land Shark!

Photographed in November 2018 at Glenelg, South Australia

Known commonly as the Land Shark (due to the shape of the nose) the 928S is a most unconventional Porsche, a luxurious Grand Tourer.

Having a front-mounted V8 of 4.5, 4.7, 5.0 or 5.4 Litres, the big Porsche had great power and handling but also offers improved levels of ride comfort and an interior space that is miles apart from Porsches other offerings.

Tatty examples can be bought for a song but beware - parts are not cheap for these cars, they can be very costly to bring back to good order.

  • I picked this '83 944 up a few years ago for very cheap. It had been repainted and had the interior replaced. I spent twice what I paid for it to get it running again. The only problem left to deal with is on the clutch slave cylinder. The bolts on the firewall where the assembly goes have rusted away. I've have another wrecked car to cut the firewall out of and replace, but if it wasn't for having a background in doing things like that, I'd be in serious trouble! Once I get the firewall repaired it still needs a new computer, tires and the lights gone through. They can be gotten cheaply, but never buy one that isn't running! I hope to have all the work done by the end of spring.
