Stellantis is bringing the Citroen Ami to the USA
Surely it will just look comical on American roads?
Good news! Stellantis has said it will be shipping the Citroen Ami to America through its Free2Move car sharing and rental service.
This news came about via LinkedIn when Free2Move posted a photo of a blacked-out Ami sitting proudly in front of a the American flag. The caption read; "From France with Love."
The Citroen Ami is already being used by Free2Move in Europe as a way to cheaply rent a car in a busy and expensive city such as Paris. Price have not yet been announced, but it will presumably be cheaper to rent than the Chevrolet Cruze and Equinox that Free2Move currently offers in the U.S.
This cute little quadricycle is just 2.41 meters long and weighs just 485 kg. It is run by a 5.5 kWh battery pack which powers a single electric motor which produces 8 hp, allowing for a top speed of 28 mph (45 km/h).
The Ami can travel up to 43.5 miles (70 km) on a single charge and it takes around 3 hours to recharge through a conventional 220-volt socket but can also be charged at a public terminal or via a Wall Box.
Is this suitable for America? Quite possibly, especially in a busy city such as New York or Boston.
