Street Racing Teens Earn Themselves a $4,000 Ticket
Hopefully, they learned their lesson
As most of us will agree, street racing is an idiotic activity. It is a danger to both the people involved, and to the other people on the road going about their own business. Street racing is mainly done by fools with no respect for the safety of others. Because of this, when a police officer catches a street racer, they like to teach them a lesson. This is exactly what a Florida Highway Patrol Officer did last month.
Very early in the morning on September 5th, a Florida Highway Patrol officer came across two teens street racing their Ford Focus ST's at speeds of over 120 mph (193 kph.) It didn't take long for the officer to catch up to the teens, and pull them over.
Understandably, the Police Officer was quite angry with the two teen's idiocy. Surprisingly, the officer did not arrest the teens, or impound their cars. However, he did chew them out to within an inch of their lives, and issue them a $4,000 ticket. "Why should I not take you to jail?," he asked the teens." "I'm trying my hardest as one person to stop this. I get you're out here trying to have some fun, but this is a rolling coffin. This is a death trap. You know what happens when you crash this thing at 125 miles per hour? People die. Do you understand that? Do you have any sense of your own mortality?" The officer ended his lecture by telling the teens about how the night before, a Tesla driver had decided to see how fast his car could go. The driver ended up crashing into a house, killing the occupants inside.
Hopefully, these teens learned their lesson. When all is said and done, $4,000 is a small price to pay when the alternative could have been their lives or someone else's life ending in a horrible crash. Below is the video of the incident.
