Last weekend, while I was at the 2018 Cruisin' The Hollow show in Lynchburg, Tennessee, I was surprised to find out that the Middle Tennessee Studebaker Association was also having a small get-together at the show. They probably had about 15 cars together at one time. That's a lot of Studebakers in one place!

This is the only Gran Turismo Hawk I have ever seen in person and they are truly amazing cars.

A interesting Studebaker Avanti.

Red and chrome.

This little truck was absolutely perfect.

A Street Rod '32 Coupe.

What a wild car!

What a wild car!

Studebaker made some of the most easily recognizable cars of the 1950s and 1960s. Known for their dependability, these cars were the everyday common transportation of the day. Looking at one can easily transport you to a different time. This has to be the most examples I have ever seen in one place and at the same time.

What do you all think of these special autos? Let us know in the COMMENTS below!

As always...

  • And those Avanti's are an AWFUL looking thing, I really don't know what Studebaker were thinking with that one. < shakes head sadly @John Coleman >

  • And the last one - I just adore the look of that huge spinner thing up front. I knew somebody who was restoring a very similar 4-door version (1 of 3 in Australia at the time). Last time I saw it he had it in paint, but still gutted. That had taken him about 20 years, so don't know if he ever finished it or not. I hope so :)

  • And that 32' Rod is just amazing.. I love that he hasn't gone TOO wild with it, and that it still looks like the classic that it is.

  • So much to say here!

I just LOVE the Hawks.. have done since I was a kid and a pal of my fathers had one and took me for a ride - the first American car I'd even been in I think.. Certainly the first I can remember. COmpared to the british cars and the VW's that I was around, it was HUGE! :)

    • Studebakers are an acquired taste, that's for sure! I can find things about all of them I like, but I don't think I'd go out of my way to own one. Now the trucks are a different story. I think they are better looking than what Ford or Chevy were...

    • I don't think I've ever seen one in the flesh..

  • I'm not quite won to the looks of the Hawk. Ironically maybe, the Avanti I really like.

    • The Avanti is neat. The pictures don't really do the Hawk justice. My battery died in my camera and I had to use a cell phone to take all of these.

    • Yes, but I've seen the Hawk in some pretty nice pictures and still, I'm not a fan. It looks like a hybrid of too many styles.
