Did you guess the top three?

According to a recent study carried out by Australian-based insurance company Compare The Market, Toyota was the most Googled car brand in 2020.

The data analysed search results in 158 countries across 2018, 2019 and 2020. Depsite this huge range, Toyota was the top searched brand in around a third (34.8%) of all countries and it is said that Toyota's search volume in 2020 was around 88.02 million.

This top result comes as no surprise as not only does Toyota sell cars to all over the globe, but they make a hell of a lot of them too. And 2020 saw the arrival of the GR Yaris which is sure to bring in a few more searches.

Behind Toyota were BMW and Ford who took second and third place. As you can see from the map, Toyota absolutely wipes the floor with most other manfacturers which almost makes you feel sorry for Mazda who were least searched in this list.

Which car brand do you think you searched the most in 2020?

  • Since tesla's sales were pretty good last year despite 2020 (and they are a "trending" ev company) I was sure I would see them on that list but I'm pleased I didn't.
