Subaru announces a new limited run of the WRX STI
Japan is keeping this Subaru close to their chest, quite literally...
Over the weekend, Subaru has set trousers a light again after announcing a new limited run WRX STI. Not much is still known about this katana blade of a rally car but here is what we know so far. They are really keeping this Scoob a secret from us all, so what do we know?
It's got badge
The TC 380 badge to be precise, is that promise of 380 brake horsepower? It could be, seeing they will use a 2.0L turbocharged flat 4 like the classic of Imprezas of old - seeing most newer Subarus use the 2.5L boxer engine which isn't bad but isn't the same. It just feels a bit lumpy compared to the classic flat 4, in my opinion of course. I used to work in a Subaru garage when I was 14 for two years and the flat 4 was always exciting to see.
Looks to kill?
Well, there are no official photos just yet to see this but snippets of information will have to set your imagination working over time.
If anything, it will look like the WRX STI RA with some kits and modifications to make it that little crazier and special - both for performance and style. The scraps details we know so far will include this TC 380 to have a new turbocharger and resonator for a kick up on power. a fresh catalytic converter and exhaust system from HKS that will be installed by Arai Motorsports themselves - a company owned and overseen by Japanese rally driver, Toshi Arai. Guess what car he drove...
Other tinkered parts listed are new front and rear spoilers, Recaro seats and a new front chassis brace. This tighter, stronger and faster Subaru promises a massive improvement on the Impreza, giving it a sharpness that it has been missing since the First generation back in 1992.
The sad new.
It will be a limited run, other website sources say it will be limited to 50 cars but nothing is set in stone. Prices are to sit around ¥4,965,840, which is about £34,000. Sounds great so far, until I say this next part. This is really hard to say this, seeing it sounds such a good car, I can't bare this...
It's exclusive to Japan...
Someone get me a tissue!
