Subaru brings back its iconic Blue and Gold livery for 2019
Yesterday, Subaru revealed their new livery for the Impreza rally car by bringing back their iconic blue and gold livery as seen on the older Subaru WRC cars from the 1990s and 2000s. This means the car will boast a star cluster graphic to go with the revived colour scheme. There's also plenty of STI badging all over the car, which can be seen on the front air intakes, rear wing, and the boot lid..
“These colours are part of our brand’s history, and beloved by our enthusiasts,” said Alan Bethke, Vice President of Marketing for Subaru of America. “For a generation of rally fans, Subaru is synonymous with blue cars, gold wheels and the iconic star cluster. This new design pays tribute to that heritage, while looking ahead to future success under the Subaru Motorsports name.”
Subaru will also restructure its US racing activities where everything from rallying to circuit racing will now be under one name, which will be called Subaru Motorsports. This makes sense instead of having a different sub-brand for every racing discipline.
The design will debut on January 14th at the Detroit Auto Show. Visitors will be able to see the livery for themselves there and admire the car. Subaru Motorsports will debut the new competition livery and launch its 2019 ARA title defence at Missouri’s Rally in the 100 Acre Wood, March 15-16.
