Subaru unveils new WRX for United States
Unfortunately, it looks like it's not coming to Europe.
The new WRX has 2.4-litre turbocharged flat-four 'boxer' engine that produces 271bhp, and has four-wheel drive. It uses the same platform the company has used since the release of the 2016 Impreza.
Inside the car, Subaru has implemented its Starlink UI in the style of an iPad, much like interface one would find in a Tesla. In order to make the drivers feel like proper petrolheads, the seats are made by Recaro.
The announcement resulted in a wave of mockery from many people online, the majority of whom criticised the styling, while 'The Drive' criticised the infotainment system for being no different than the one in base models of Outback and Legacy.
If you are in America, you can start ordering one from 2022. However, it seems unlikely that we are going to get the new WRX in UK and other European markets, considering the fact that the new BRZ will not be arriving to these markets.
This can be attributed to Subaru's disastrous sales in 2020, as the company saw a year-on-year decrease of 68% compared with 2019, and it's truly a shame that this is happening, because now the young will not be able to enjoy new epic cars.
