    - One of the worst-timed Pontiacs: the Bonneville Model G. It wasn’t really a Bonneville: it was Detroit downsizing the quick way, by taking an intermediate and sticking a full-size nameplate on it. Launched just as Americans wanted big cars again.

    The Pontiac Bonneville Model G showed, even as late as the 1982 model year, Detroit was willing to downsize by shifting nameplates. It didn’t work
