Super rare Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM AMG is heading to auction

Formerly owned by Bahrain and UAE royals

This fantastic Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM AMG convertible is heading to auction with RM Sotheby's in Paris on February 13 and it could be yours. The bad news is you gotta be ready fork out a good amount of cash to get it because it's rare and in perfect condition.

Only 100 units were built in 2004 to celebrate Mercedes' success in DTM the previous year and this particular model has three previous owners, two of them come from royal families from the UAE and the other one is a member of the House of Khalifa, the ruling family of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

This gorgeous convertible, painted in Fire Opal Red, is powered by a supercharged 5.5-litre V8, producing 582 PS (574 hp) and paired with a 5-speed automatic. The top speed is 200 mph and 0-60 is dealt with in under 4 seconds.

It is in mint condition, as you'd expect, with 15,178 km (9,4k) under its belt. To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if this ended up breaking a world record for "the most expensive CLK ever sold at auction" or something like that.

  • I usually love Benz, but this color and this interior, a mess. I'd spend my cash on something else exclusive, there's plenty of it on the market.

And, is it me, or this interior looks worn way more than it should be for the mileage?

  • Interesting. The royals don’t need to sell a car like this as I’m sure they have plenty of cash. I expect it’s more a case that they believe were are the top of the market and they may as well cash in now. I suspect by mid 2021 we’ll see loads of case being sold and the market get flooded.

  • Ill pay whatever it takes. Such a cool AMG which people have generally forgot about but it’s probably one of the absolute greatest they ever made
