Surfers Paradise, Queensland, Australia – The Nissan Motorsport’s Supercars Altima squad heads to Surfers Paradise this weekend for the Vodafone Gold Coast 600, the final endurance round of the season.
Fresh off a pair of top-10 finishes in the Bathurst 1000, at the hands of Michael Caruso and Dean Fiore in the No. 23 and Todd Kelly and Jack Le Brocq in the No. 20, the Nissan combos will be looking to build on that momentum going into the final stretch of the season.
Caruso and Fiore will run the Nissan Genuine Parts livery for the first time in 2017 on their No. 23 machine at the 2.984 km street circuit.
“Dean (Fiore) and I have finished on the podium at the Gold Coast 600 before and we’re keen to do it again," Caruso said.
"It’s a nice problem to deal with, having to try and fit a surfboard trophy into your overhead luggage on the way home.
"We were pretty consistent at Bathurst and showed a good improvement over Sandown. So if we can keep up that momentum we should be in a good spot for the weekend.
"The Gold Coast is a great part of Australia to visit. We’ve had a chilly winter down in Melbourne, so I’ll definitely be packing away the board shorts for this weekend.”
Also aiming for the coveted surfboard trophy this weekend are Rick Kelly and David Wall in the No. 15 and No. 78 Simona de Silvestro and David Russell No. 78.
