Take a listen to the next generation Ford Raptor's new V8 heart
It's supposedly going to be the 5.2-liter supercharged V8 from the GT500.
Yesterday, we caught up to the upcoming Ford F-150 Raptor, and our new video confirms that at least one Raptor variant will be packing a V8. The engineer was overly cautious when it came to accelerating, and even went as far as cutting through subdivisions to get back to Roush, (yes, the same Roush that helped developed a long list of fast Fords).
This video all but confirms that the new Raptor will be powered by the supercharged 5.2-liter V8 Predator engine straight from the heart of the GT500, and will make between 725 and 750 horsepower. One of sources said, "Honestly, we had to counter RAM once we knew they installed the Hellcat engine in the TRX". The team is allegedly looking to beat the RAM TRX at all costs.
I for one, am particularly amused by the Raptor getting a significant bump in power. Of course it could be a variant, other sources are referring to this as the Raptor R, so I imagine that you will still be able to get a Raptor with the 3.5-liter Ecoboost, but after hearing that exhaust rumble, I know which one I want, and I know which one you want too.
What do you think of the video? Do you think this'll put the Raptor on the top of the food chain? Are you waiting for the Chevrolet Silverado Carnotaurus? Comment Below!
