According to the Californian Police, a 17-year-old girl broke into an airport on December 18th, climbed into a plane, and drove it until she crashed into a fence. The girl sneaked into Fresno Yosemite International Airport by climbing over a fence topped with barbed wire. Then, she broke into a King Air 200 small airplane and started taxiing around in circles.

Thankfully, she did not go airborne, which could’ve not only resulted in her death but also a chance of mass destruction. However, she did crash into a fence, and kept on taxiing for 400 more meters. Soon, the airport and local police were dispatched and the girl was arrested. The girl “appeared to be disoriented and was uncooperative with the police when she was taken into custody” stated Police chief Drew Bessinger.

Her motives for this ‘joyride’ is unknown, but the police stated that there was no indication of a “terrorism-related motive”. Although we can assume that this incident was just a case of juvenile delinquency, it could have ended way worse if the girl decided to take off. The girl is currently in custody in Fresno County Juvenile Hall.

At the end of the day…

Teenagers… Just remember that this doesn’t justify you taking your dad’s car for a joyride XD Hope that users of DriveTribe will be able to drive and enjoy speed responsibly.

  • OK bugging me because I’m a pilot. You don’t “drive” planes, you taxi them. They don’t even have a steering wheel, they have a yoke.

    • I guess that's technically correct! Somehow all the major news corporations worded it 'drive'! I'll change it and thanks for the advice!

    • They all do that. I could make a lot of money as a technical advisor:)
