If you're a frequent visitor to YouTube, you'll know just how capable the Tesla P100D is. It's the top spec £130,000 example with the 'ludicrous' button that can embarass pretty much anything else on two wheels or four. Some say it's a one trick pony, but what a trick!
Last week I had Suzuki's new GSX-R1000R in the garage and had a race with a P100D all lined up. Unfortunately the weather didn't clear in time before the bike had to be returned. It would've been really interesting to see just how the 1000bhp per ton bike stacked up against the Tesla's four wheel drive and electric gadgetry. It made mincemeat of a 500bhp Nissan GTR, although the Tesla is another step up again in terms of thrust off the line.
Suzuki's 2017 GSX-R1000R. No slouch with 200bhp per tonne
Here's a Kawasaki ZX-10R taking on a pair of Teslas. Fair warning - the bike rider is doing an abysmal job of things. His bike will do 105mph in first gear, and he just isn't revving the thing hard enough. With a proper rider onboard, things would start to get very interesting.
Suzuki quotes 9.6 seconds for a quarter mile for their GSX-R, and the P100D wasn't far behind at 10.6 seconds. Watch this space...
