Tesla India plant could be set up in Gujurat
Following years of hypothesizing Tesla. Inc has finally registered its R&D department in Bangalore, and now it looking for a land to park its factory.
Elon musk's company has been registered with the Registrar of Companies on January 8, 2021, with authorized capital to the tune of Rs.15 lakhs and paid-up capital of Rs.1 lakh.
Tesla India Motors and Energy Ltd has been opened at the City Center. With that Tesla has also been in contact with several State Governments to start its India operations. However, Rumour has it that Gujarat is most likely to be the state for setting up Tesla's production plant.
Production and Assembly plant near the Port?
Tesla would prefer its manufacturing plant to be closest to the port, having a plant closer to the port would massively help the company to save a lot on logistics.
The setting of a plant in India would necessitate immense import and assembling. Hence a location close to a port would be advantageous for the company. Also, Gujurat being a major manufacturing hub for both auto and auto components would also be beneficial for a company that is setting up its operations in a new country.
It is fair to assume that area which is in close proximity to two major ports of Gujarat in Kandla and Mundra are being considered for a possible location.
