Tesla is coming to India and it's not worth the wait
And I don't understand the hype surrounding it
First, a history lesson!
It wasn't until a decade ago when Elon Musk the real-life Tony Stark first introduced the world to the Tesla Roadster with that announcing Tesla. inc the company that went on to master electric mobility and made the EV's more approachable for the mass market. sort of, because Roadster was just a Lotus Elise with an electric blender attached to it and I am sure everyone watched Jeremy Clarkson's review on the Roadster where he shattered the roadster for having a poor range and how addition and placement of the batteries destroyed the handling prowess of the Elise chassis. And we all know what happened after that and Mr Elon's inability to take criticism led to a stupid lawsuit which quite literally didn't help the company, and cost the company 100,000 euro in damages.
But a year after the controversy Tesla did something special...
On June 22, 2012, Tesla launched The Model S and it was something special, Tesla engineers developed an EV that perform on the same level as ICE cars and as of 2021 Model S has the claimed range of 641 km on a single charge and charging times has gone down drastically with the introduction of the now infamous autopilot and mind-numbing 0-60 Mp/h (0-96 km/h) of sub 2.7 seconds Tesla soon started to gather some huge fanfare from enthusiasts and environmentalists and by just their stand out products but also from the antics Elon Musk's indulges in, by sending a pre-production car to the Mars, selling flamethrower or offering a rocket for the new Tesla roadster to name a few.
I am pretty sure Mr Musk has an iron man suit stuffed somewhere in his multi-million dollar mansion.
And now this madness is coming to India
But what does it mean for the Indian automotive sector?
Firstly, I am not a fan of Tesla, I don't like their approach to automobile mobility or its performance.
Their interior design philosophy, which except for the gigantic Touchscreen which I think is cool and stupidly unnecessary makes the interior feel bland, but that's just me.
And what sort of success Tesla achieved and the fanfare they gained was in countries where you don't pay 120% import duty on an import and where residents are void of electricity for hours.
Here in India especially on the highway, we struggle to find a petrol station for miles and miles, so to expect the availability of charging stations at the convenience of 1.36 Billion Indian motorists. well, of course not all of them drive cars and certainly, not many of them would be able to afford one.
This leads to my next point Tesla's are an expensive set of four wheels to own even by American standards, the supposedly cheapest model in Tesla's range of EV's is the Model 3 and it still costs about $40,000 that's about ₹28,80,000 in exchange rates.
On top of it, you have to consider the stupendous tax rates of India which Model 3 would easily touch ₹45,00,000 to ₹50,00,000
you can get a fully loaded BMW 330i M sports for that money.
Let's say you still bought the model 3 or whichever model Tesla chooses to launch here in India you still have to deal with range anxiety, without proper charging infrastructure you just can't drive an EV like a normal car, you cant top up the battery in minutes like you'd fill fuel an ICE car at a petrol station. And there's already an EV on the market that cost half of the Model 3 and gives a similar range, it's the MG ZS Ev.
And if you're following social media, memes and stuff, you'll know that there's an unprecedented hype about tesla entering not just from the petrol heads even normal people are into it, but most of it has to do with Tesla's autopilot tech, Sorry to disappoint you normies but Tesla isn't going to be available with autopilot and surprisingly Tesla cars are more than their fancy tech but their fancy tech is their only asset and the only way to attract customers.
There is no denying entry of Tesla would definitely encourage and speed up the development of charging infrastructure and not just infrastructure entry of a pioneer in electric mobility in the Indian market would force other manufacturers to ring in their ''A'' game to beat Tesla and who knows maybe other manufacturers with genuine backing and monetary support unlike Tesla's absurdly overinflated theoretical value of the company, could do some serious damage if they put their heads into it.
And I am not against electric cars, the more they're bought by normal people buy the more our precious environment is preserved and we petrolheads could enjoy our dirty polar bear killing iceberg melting ICE cars in peace, Well when I say in peace I mean banging exhaust noise.
Well, this is just me an educated soul who can't accept EV's are the future, who goes on a rant.

There is a way to make the internal combustion engine better for the environment than EVs. They're called synthetic fuels. Made with H2 separated from water through hydrolysis and CO2 taken from the atmosphere by carbon capture units. They reduce tailpipe emissions by 85% but that will likely go into carbon capture units and back to the cycle. I'm working on a plan to promote those to the governments of the world so we can finally see these shoddily built Muskmobiles fall out of favor.
Well I am more than excited to follow u on this journey power to you man
I'm currently working on an environmental plan that I think will take meaningful actions towards stopping climate change without the systematic eradication of the car community.
Indians won't buy it period. Most cars in India are $10k and even if Elon stripped the 3 to its bare minimum, it would cost $20k. Double the price + barely any infrastructure = flop
People with money will, just like they buy Mercedes and other luxury brands that are upwards of 25 lakhs and that's exactly my point whole point of having an ev is to save fuel costs and cut out on harmful emmision but if tesla becomes a toy for...

I completely agree. Tesla will fail in India.
They'll end being an Indian millionaires toy, like a novelty to have some celebrities who can afford them and claim to be an environmentalist and doesn't have to go over the charging issues or range anxiety because they probably got people...
Read moreThe energy part of the company might succeed for sure.
cars might not
I believe that too, they're a tech company not a car manufacturer and if someone says evs from other brands like Honda e Mercedes electric suv audis suv or porch aren't as good as tesla that's just because they're still hanging onto the slim...
