Tesla Model 3 proves its worth after hit from drunk driver
Even at the quietest times, we can never tell what the open road has waiting for us. This is a lesson that a Tesla Model 3 owner was unfortunate enough to learn after an encounter with a drunk driver last month.
At around two in the morning on October 27, the Model 3 owner was driving southbound on i95 near Deerfield Beach in Florida. Out of nowhere, the car was struck in the side by a speeding SUV which, based on the video, seems to come out worse. After the fact, it turned out that the reckless driver was under the influence of alcohol explaining why the car suddenly swerved into the Tesla’s lane.
The video was captured by Tesla’s own surveillance system that’s fitted to every car that leaves the Gigafactory. Cameras are placed all over the car in order to get great angles of any incident, be it a pedestrian keying a parked car, or a crash such as this.
Once emotions had calmed down, the Tesla owner expressed their admiration at the car’s ability to maintain grip despite receiving quite a hefty knock to the side. They said, “I never lost control, and would have easily spun out in previous vehicles.” That may be true for cars of yesteryear, but I’m sure most modern cars would need a fair whack to be in any trouble at that speed, what do you think?
