Tesla Model S 'Plaid' has gone round the Nürburgring in 7:13 minutes

While many might have even forgotten about Tesla making the Plaid powertrain and aiming to beat the Porsche Taycan around the Nürburgring, Tesla haven't and they have gone with their Tesla Model S Plaid and set an unofficial lap time of 7 minutes and 13 seconds. That means that the Plaid Model S is 29 seconds faster round the 'Ring than the Porsche Taycan.

While this might seem a blistering lap time to many, this is still not what the Plaid Model S can achieve. The Plaid Model S is no slouch. It is not a car made deliberately by a carmaker to beat its counterpart, it is a car that is production bound and will raise the bars for EVs.

Porsche, time to do something.

    • You could have just left it at prototype. What is your hangup on the number of seat when the car is a year away from production anyway?

  • It’s not a production vehicle yet and i doubt you will be able to do lap after lap of the Nurburgring repeatedly like in the Taycan Turbo S. And anyway we all know that the Tesla broke down on one of its first laps when the Porsche was going round as well. Deeply embarrassing for Elon Musk 😂

    • You don’t understand how Tesla works. “Move fast and break things” is a real mode of operation for a Tesla. If you are not breaking things, you are not innovating. Porsche broke...

    • If they're both moving fast in breaking things then, the publicity of the breakage doesn't matter as much as what is done about the breakage, which still remains to be seen. For now...
