This video shows a Tesla Model X P100D take on (and beat!) a Lamborghini Aventador LP750-4 SuperVeloce. The Model X was charged to 73% using a supercharger, and was put into Ludicrous Mode for the drag race.

It was this mode that seemed to give the Tesla it's advantage over the Aventador SV, beating the Lamborghini by several tenths of a second! After finishing the drag race, the Aventador soars past the Tesla, unfortunately too late.

The video also claims that the Tesla set the record for the fastest SUV on a drag strip, at 117.95MPH, although this is unconfirmed.

  • Still would take the lambo

  • Lambo made a false start the second run...

    • Yep, a good .3 -.5 second jump start.

    • No he didn't. Look at the RT on the slips. Lambo had a .008 RT, which is anticipatory but legal. (he didn't see the light and hit the pedal, he knew when it would be green and timed it.) Tesla had a .35, which is slooowwwww.

  • 1) First race - By definition of FIA it would be treated as jump start. At 0,25% video speed Tesla takes of nearly instantly (according to my stopwatch it's around 0,2 sec, meaning the driver's reaction time would be sort of 0,05 to 0,1 sec. According to FIA 0,2 sec is a minimum reaction time. everything below is a jump start.

    2) in second run Lambo is DQ - clear jump start.

    concluding: Ambitious but rubbish.

  • look at the mph of the lambo though 118 vs 129. tesla's make good 1/4 mile cars but 1/2 or full mile. they have no top speed.

    • just because it has worse aerodynamics and (I didn't check that) probably is heavier. But let's be honest - what is more fun in cars, than massive acceleration?...

I'll tell you - massive acceleration with awesome sound! ;)
