THE 17 funniest TWEETS from THE AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX
DRIVETRIBE'S MAN ON TWITTER @GRANDPRIXDIARY ROUNDS UP THE BEST reactions from social media
Sebastien Vettel took the victory for Ferrari ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas in the two Mercedes in the opening race of 2017 in Melbourne.
That's how it played out on the track, but we asked @GrandPrixDiary to keep an eye on Twitter for us during the Grand Prix - here's how it all panned out on social media...
1. It takes a lot to get out of bed before dawn on a Sunday.
2. A Grand Prix is about the only thing that'll do it.
3. Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo broke down on the way to the grid. A fact not missed by the Renault works team. Miaow.
4. A picture of a Sauber, superimposed on the grass (celebrating 25 years of being average) surprised a few of us.
5. The stewards thought nobody to blame when Magnussen nerfed into Ericsson. Not sure the Swede agreed.
6. McLaren gave poor old Stoffel Vandoorne a complicated job at his first pit stop, when the car decided it would rather not carry on.
7. Renault's Twitter account not the only thing on fire today, as Romain Grosjean's Haas goes up in smoke in the pits.
8. Lewis Hamilton and more than a few others not full of the joys of spring. "Tyres, Grip, Moan, Tyres, Grip, Whinge".
9. Thankfully, either Hamilton cheered up or some kind soul unplugged his radio.
10. Never thought Hermione Granger would make an appearance this morning.
11. While his teammate cantered off at the front, Kimi Raikkonen was in a more casual mode.
12. Nico Rosberg watching on TV might have enjoyed this one...
13. Karma can be a bitch.
14. Valtteri Bottas, homing in on Hamilton is about to get a call from Toto Wolff.
15. Nico Hulkenberg and Esteban Ocon go past Fernando Alonso like he is stood still. Oh deary me.
16. Got to love Max Verstappen.
17. Just about sums it up perfectly. Better like next time Toto...
