Legendary, iconic colors, and who doesn't love box fenders?

In May of 1972, BMW introduced the CSL as a homologation special so the cars could be raced in the European Touring Car Championship. Toine Hezemans won that Championship the following year, as well as its class at Le Mans with BMW factory driver Dieter Quester.

BMW expanded the racing program in 1975, forming BMW Motorsports North America in the US. The 3.0 CSL went on to win the Sebring 12 Hours in 1975 and the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1976. Meanwhile, privateers in the 1970's turned BMW CSL street cars into race cars to race in IMSA, similar to what others were doing with Porsches and Corvettes.

This particular CSL, chassis No. No. 2275465, was Dieter Quester's personal car while he was a factory driver for BMW. It was acquired by the current owner, Dick York, in 2013 and converted into an IMSA spec CSL racing car by Heritage Motorsports.
