After a thrilling final race at Motegi with both GT500 and GT300 championships going right to the end I can now announce the champions from both respected categories.
The GT500 championship came down to two cars the Keeper Tom's car of recently crowned Super Formula champion Nick Cassidy and his team mate Ryo Hirakawa and the Team Le mans Wako's car of Kenta Yamashita and Kazuya Oshima. the fight went right down to the final laps but despite The Keeper Tom's boys winning the race a 2nd place finish for the Wako's guys was all they needed to seal the championship by 2 points. It was an exciting battle all the way through the season and I cant wait to see who will challenge the Wako's Lads next year.
The GT300 battle was a lot more spread out this year with Honda NSX of team ARTA being the bench mark all year but going into the this weekend the K-tunes racing team had a chance of beating them to the title, But with K-tunes only finishing P3 with The ARTA car behind meant that the GT300 tile went to ARTA and Shinichi Takagi and Nirei Fukuzumi. I'm looking forward to another great season of GT300 next year.
So there you have it you 2019 Super GT Champions. Its been a fantastic season full of great racing. Its a long wait now to the beginning of the new season but will all be worth it with the new generation of GT500's and the beginning of a brand new GT300 battle. But while the main season is now over we still have one more race to look forward to and that being the Fuji dream with staring both the GT500's and DTM cars, so ill see you then.
