Audi has shown the R8 Panther Edition, a model of which will be limited to just 50 units. The stealthy vehicle is finished with an Audi-exclusive Panther Black that appears purple close up, and has carbon fiber on the mirrors, engine bay, and side intakes. In addition, the exterior is adorned by blacked-out Audi badges and 20-inch matte black wheels with red trim wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tires.
Red overwhelms the interior as well, with the racing seats being covered in red leather, and the remaining areas dominated by black leather and red stitching. It doesn't end there though, the headliner, shift knob, and steering wheel has alcantara, and a Bang & Olufsen audio system is standard.
The R8 Panther Edition's heartbeat consists of a 5.2 L V10 that produces 532 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque. This monstrous amount of power is said by Audi to push the R8 to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds on its way to a top speed of 201 mph. The all-wheel drive R8 Performance model on the other hand makes 602 horsepower from its Lamborghini-sourced V10. Panther Edition R8s are also fitted with a sport exhaust system.
Regular Audi R8s already cost $142,700 from the get go, but the Panther Edition? You'll walk out of the show room lacking $184,795. So, to be absolutely clear, you're essentially paying $40,000, or one optioned Honda Civic Type R, to get new paint, wheels, a restitched interior, carbon fiber, an upgraded exhaust, and some black badges - that doesn't sound like too good of a deal.
