The race will be preceded a week earlier by the Roar
The management of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship has released a statement specifying what will be the first race of the 2022 season. It will be the 60th edition of the legendary 24 Hours of Daytona to host the first race of the American championship.
It has been established that the race will take place between 29 and 30 January and that it will be preceded by the Roar which will establish the starting grid. It has not yet been decided whether the positions will be awarded through timed laps or with a Qualifying Race as happened in this year's edition.
All cars registered in the championship belonging to the DPi, LMP2, LMP3, GTD PRO and GTD classes can participate in the race. It is yet to be established that there will be public turnout in the stands due to the health restrictions imposed by the pandemic.
