Vauxhall has just revealed its brand-new Astra Sports Tourer, making it the first estate to display Vauxhall's new design philosophy.

Following the release of the Astra hatchback in September this year, the Sports Tourer offers a sporty and practical solution to satisfy your estate craving. The Vauxhall Vizor is the new design scheme that the British brand has committed to recently.

The Sports Tourer will feature the 'Vizor' facelift with a single front panel showcasing Vauxhall's new logo following a redesign last year.

The number one priority of any estate should be the boot space and the Sports Tourer has plenty of it.

You'll get 608 litres of space with the seats upright and 1,634 litres with the seat folded - that's quite a lot of space. The plug-in hybrid model does sacrifice some boot space thanks to the positioning of the lithium-ion battery. This reduces the overall volume to 548 litres with the seats up and 1,574 litres with them folded.

The petrol and diesel versions of the Sports Tourer come with Vauxhall's "Intelli-Space" floor, allowing users to load the boot easier. The floor can be adjusted higher or lower by hand and can be adjusted to be tilted at a 45-degree angle.

This system is particularly clever when it comes to changing a flat tyre as the spare wheel can be accessed from inside the car, meaning you won't have to unpack all the contents of your boot just to change a tyre.

For a family car, look no further. The seats are certified by AGR (Aktion Gesunder Rücken), also known as Campaign for Healthier Backs. This means the seats, both rear and front will be comfortable especially on those long journeys. The inside of the Sports Tourer comes complete with Vauxhall's Pure Panel featuring a 10-inch driver instrument cluster and a 10-inch digital touchscreen.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto also come as standard across all models. The Sports Tourer offers a wide range of powertrains to choose from. At the forefront of the range will be the plug-in hybrid, producing 221bhp.

The different petrol and diesel variants range from 108bhp to 228bhp. Whilst the hybrid models will come with an eight-speed automatic gearbox, the petrol and diesel models will come equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox.

Rest assured, this could just be another estate but the Sports Tourer offers a lot for someone looking to buy an estate with substantial boot space.
