The 280Hp C20Xe Engined Chevette HSR Tarmac Rally Car by RetroPower
This incredibly clean Chevette Tarmac Rally Car belongs to Alasdair Stables and was built and tuned by RetroPower, the restoration experts from England that are also building a Ford Escort Mk1 for a certain Gordon Murray...
Present at Retro Rides Gathering 2018, this Chevette is built to emulate the Group 4 Rally Car in looks and spirit but features many modern solutions that bring it up to par to contemporary performance. Now powered by a Red-Top 2.3L C20XE engine producing 280Hp/8.000Rpm and weighing under a tonne, this RWD hatchback is converted into a true Tarmac-spec Rally Monster.
From the Paul Exon built engine boasting forged rods and pistons, competition cams with suitably aggressive profiles and enlarged valves, Jenvey throttle bodies, Simpson Racing manifold and exhaust system, all the way to its Quaife sequential gearbox and a five-linked Atlas axle, and completely custom suspension, this is another example of the Top Notch work of RetroPower.
