The All-New 2022 Acura MDX Is Packed With Luxury And Performance
The next-generation MDX has been revealed and offers more luxury, performance, and style than ever before.
1. Acura has unveiled the 2022 MDX, which has more standard features, a luxurious interior, and improved performance.
2. It has a 12.3-inch infotainment display, a V6 engine, and upgraded suspension.
3. It will go on sale early next year with a 355 horsepower Type S model arriving this summer.
The next-generation Acura MDX SUV has been revealed, and offers more standard equipment and upgraded performance. Currently the MDX is Acura's best-selling vehicle, and has sold over 1 million units since 2001, so this 2022 model has a lot to live up to.
The current generation MDX competes with the likes of the Lexus RX, Cadillac XT6, and the soon to come Genesis GV80. The next-generation of MDX has its sights set on the BMW X5, Mercedes GLE, and Audi Q7. The new MDX couldn't compete with the big guys without upping its size a little, so for 2022 it's built on a light truck platform that makes it longer, lower, and wider than its predecessor.
The all-new MDX has upgraded suspension that includes increased spring and damper rates, stiffened anti-roll bars, light components, and unequal-length control arms. Under the hood of the new MDX lies a 3.5 L V6 that produces 290 horsepower. All horses are transferred to the front wheels as standard via a new 10-speed automatic transmission. This new transmission is tuned to have better acceleration and replaces the previously fitted 9-speed auto. Acura's fourth generation all wheel drive system will be optional and allows 70% of torque to go to the rear wheels.
Summer will bring a Type S model that has standard all wheel drive and is powered by a 3.0 L V6 that generates 355 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque.
Inside the cabin is where it's at in the new MDX thanks to its plethora of standard comfort features. These features include heated and cooled 16-way power sport seats with 9 massage settings, 27 lighting configurations, a 12.3-inch infotainment display, and a 25-speaker audio system. The MDX's interior has lavish materials such as open-pore wood with infused metallic flake, polished aluminum, soft-touch Milano leather, Ebony and Light Orchid leather, French stitching, and curvilinear quilting.
Acura says the MDX has more leg and headroom this time around as well as an ultra-wide panoramic moonroof. Also included is a 12.3-inch driver’s meter, seating for 7, and a sliding 40/20/40 second row with a removable center section.
The 2022 Acura MDX is better than ever. With an abundance of luxurious features, more power, and lavish interior styling and materials, the next-generation MDX is a lot nicer than your neighbors old Legend - no matter what they tell you. Pricing is expected to start around $45,000.
