ABOUT THE "ART OF FORMULA 1" SERIES

This is a series dedicated to Scuderia Ferrari's F1 Grand Prix cover art and the artists behind the work. It includes my interpretation of the cover, insights (did you know) into a nugget of information about the grand prix location, some words from Ferrari (track info. etc.), informational links to artist's sites and other Art of Formula 1 series works.

THE ART OF FORMULA 1: SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS WITH ARTIST, LORENZO NUTI

Charles Leclerc takes on the famous corner, Raidillon. This begins the ascent after passing over the Eau Rouge stream. To the left, we see the building Pouhon Pierre-le-Grand, in the town of Spa. This cover interestingly looks as if it was hand-painted. It is said that for drivers to successfully manuever this corner they must show confidence in their vehicles downforce and attack it flat out! Without lifting the throttle through Eau Rouge, a car would be flat out from La Source, along the Kemmel straight to Les Combes.

DID YOU KNOW?

Pouhon Pierre-le-Grand is one of the most visited buildings in Spa and was known for housing one of the largest and best-known mineral springs in Spa called the "Interior dolphin fountain". History has noted many visits from Tsar Peter the Great to see this very spring!
