ABOUT THE "ART OF FORMULA 1" SERIES

First published in 2017, this series is dedicated to Scuderia Ferrari's F1 Grand Prix cover art and the artists behind the work. It includes my interpretation of the cover, insights (did you know) into a nugget of information about the grand prix location, some words from Ferrari (track info. etc.), informational links to artist's sites and other Art of Formula 1 series works.

DID YOU KNOW?

This Sunday, the final showdown between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton will take place! This race is the last race of the season and will decide the driver's and constructor's championship for 2021. Although Verstappen has won more races this year than Hamilton, they are currently tied for points. If there is a points tie at the end of this race (very unlikely), Verstappen will be named the victor. But who is in favor to win? With so many variables from teams to tires to a different track layout, you really have to ask the question of who wants it more or who has more to lose. Mercedes has won the constructor championship for the past 7 years straight. Hamilton also has a total of 7 wins (tied with Michael Schumacher). With this win, Hamilton makes F1 history as the champion of champions. There is a lot riding on a Mercedes win! Is it enough to coerce Verstappen to come in second? Will Verstappen historically make a BIG upset with a win and temporarily or permanently take Hamilton out of the history books (could this be Hamilton's last chance to break the record)? This race could be considered one of the most important races in recent F1 history and all eyes will be watching with bated breath!

ABOUT THE ARTIST - VALERIO BEFANI

Valerio Befani is a comic and storyboard artist from Civitavecchia, Italy. After graduating from the International School of Comics in Rome, he began his career drawing Wicked for Dominate Comix and Bren Gattonero for Crazy Camper. He worked for Star Comics on 20000 leagues under the sea and as a character designer and storyboard artist for music videos and other small projects. He began collaborating with Editoriale Cosmo on Battaglia Ragazzi di morte and for the series Un Eroe una Battaglia on the issue La Neve di Stalingrado. In 2019 he worked the one-shot Cthulhu, l’abisso della ragione, for Editoriale Cosmo.
