The Audi E-Scooter: Yep, It's a Real Thing
Audi revealed a new electric scooter this morning that is set to be released in 2020. With the vision of combining an electric scooter with a skateboard, Audi claim that this 12kg is their approach towards 'multi-modal mobility' - try saying that five times really fast!
Thorsten Schrader, the project manager for the scooter, says “With the Audi e-tron Scooter, we appeal to customers who are on the move in cities, sustainably and multi-modally – and for whom style and functionality are important.”
Schrader also says that the user only has to have one hand on the steering handle as the majority of the movement comes from the classic skateboard design - leaning in the way you want to go.
At the end of next year, private customers (in specific areas) will be able to purchase the scooter for - wait for it... €2000! The range of the scooter on a single charge is 20km (12.5 miles), and the same numbers apply for the top speed, which is 20kph.
This scooter features a hydraulic foot-brake as well as a display in the handlebars to show how much battery is left in the scooter. What do you think of the E-Tron scooter? I think it looks like great fun - but not €2000 of fun...
