The Best DB Ever?
1948 Daimler DB18 Super Sport, Photographed in August 2018 at Gosford Classic Cars, NSW, Australia
No, not an Aston Martin. A stunning Daimler! A Daimler DB18 Super Sport, built in 1948.
Daimler is one of the oldest existing Marques still operating, now under the wing of Jaguar.
That little chip was the only flaw I could find on the whole car - and I spent some time admiring it!
Will we ever see quality and workmanship like this again? Do we even have the skills?
I'd never seen one of these before, and one look was all it took me to fall in love!
Daimler DB18 Super Sport Facts
Only 608 were built, from 1946 to 1953.
Only one body style was available, this Drop-Head Coupe.

Innovative features included hydro/mechanical brakes, independent suspension and built-in jacks!

The DB18 also has a fluid flywheel, pre-selector gearbox and worm drive rear axle!
The DB18 has 85hp and a top speed of 86mp/h. Very leisurely motoring, but in the utmost of style and grace!

This is a pretty cool piece of history here, I love how @Chris Breeden can see some stylings from other cars in this era. I do enjoy curvy body lines of cars like this. Also, nice spotting that rock chip in the back btw! 😂
Thanks Han!
Yes, Chris is a deep thinker I reckon :) I really enjoy his insights too..
WOW!
There's a few metal fabricators left in the world that could bang one of these out, but they are few and far between these days. This is a great looking car. The body roll kind of reminds me of the one that's on a '46 to '48 Chevy. Nice color combination on this one!
It is beautiful!
