The best of Joe Boater - A look back on my first year on Drivetribe

I've been on Drivetribe for over a year now, so I figured I'd make a collection of all my best work to celebrate!

7w ago

If you've been paying any attention, you'll know that I've been on Drivetribe for a little over a year. This is a cause for celebration! In this list, I've compiled some of my favourite articles, quizzes and polls that I've made over the last 12 months for you to revisit and read. So without further ado, let's get into it!

First off, a huge thank you to everyone!

In this year, I've collected a staggering 257 followers and 37.6k bumps. I've became part of the Drivetribe Creators Programme as well. None of this would have been possible without you guys, so thank you so much for that!

The early days:

This was my first post on Drivetribe. I'm sorry for putting you though this...

My favourite quizzes:

Since the most popular form of media on Drivetribe is the quiz, I figured what better way to start off this article than with some of my favourite quizzes I've made.

Are you secretly a Mustang driver?

This is by far the funniest personality quiz I've ever made. Like most of my personality quizzes, it was rigged so that everyone was exposed as a Mustang driver except me. It do be like that though.

What car are you based on your Among Us strategy?

The title pretty much says it all. This quiz gave you a scenario in Among Us, and depending on what you did in the situation, it gave you a car. It was a pretty fun quiz to make, and the header image is the best I've made.

What are these bad replicas supposed to be?

This was a 13 part series (that I'm planning on continuing) where you had to figure out what the car was trying to be, and what it was based on. They're quite fun, and sometimes a little difficult.

Play part one below:

The one question quiz

Despite sounding really easy, this series of 13 quizzes was one of the hardest ever posted on Drivetribe. Basically it's one question, but there are over 70 different answers to choose from. To make it even harder, you must select multiple answers, and if you miss just one, you get 0%. Let me know down in the comments if you'd like to see more of these.

How old are you based on the automotive things you recognize?

With 309 bumps and 934 comments, this is my most popular post by far. It's not the most accurate quiz in the world (I'm 51-80 according to it), but it was a fun concept. Should I try to make a more accurate version in the future? Let me know!

What song are you based on your taste in cars?

This series of 8 quizzes is the last from my quizzes section, but trust me, they're some of my favourite. Basically you choose your favourite cars from a certain decade, and it will give you a song from that decade. All of these quizzes are great, but they really start getting good in the 1980s.

My best articles:

During the second half of 2020 I started writing lots of articles, some of which were awesome, and some that sucked. These are my best ones:

Fallen Heroes: 5 famous cars that lost their way!

This is my most viewed article on Drivetribe. In fact, over 2,000 people voted in the poll at the end. The title pretty much says it all, it was a list of great cars that were screwed up in a generation change. It made it on the Drivetribe Promotor's Best Posts of The Week poll, and won!

SOS: BMW is a sinking ship. Here's what they need to do to keep it afloat

In my opinion, this is the best article I have ever written for this website. It was a step by step plan to get BMW back on track making great vehicles again, all in an interesting shipwreck analogy. Sadly, this article didn't really get seen much, so if you haven't read it, I'd suggest giving it a go below:

5 amazing cars that went above and beyond what they were designed to do!

This article highlighted cars like the Honda Civic and Volvo 240, both cars that weren't meant to be cool, but somehow ended up being awesome.

My best renders:

During the summer I started rendering cars, starting with simple face-swaps and working my way up to totally original designs for my theoretical brand, Trekk. These are my best renders:

Above are all the cars from the Trekk lineup!

Sadly I don't have many of my old faceswaps saved to my new computer, but just know that they were weird.

I have every tutorial in rendering I've made, as well as some of Lukas Shepherd's linked inside this article:

World Wagon War:

I felt like this series could have its own section in this post, since it's so huge. Basically a small disagreement with Lukas Shepherd ended in us having a daily rendering challenge. We'd both render the same car as a wagon, then the renders would be posted in a battle poll to determine the winner. I don't care what Lukas tells you, I won.

Check out the introduction post here:

The WWW ended just before New Years.

Those are my best articles, quizzes and renders! I hope you enjoyed reading!
