The Best of Motorsport Community This Month
Motorsport Community is the home of motorsport on DriveTribe. It's a large, open community for any writers with a passion for motorsport. We're always looking to expand with more writers and members, and thanks to everyone who is a part of the tribe, in any way. We've attempted to compile some of the best stories you may have missed. Here they are, in no particular order.
'Robert Wickens and Fellow Drivers are Mad at Pocono - Duncan L
Motorsport Community tribe leader Duncan has created some great content in the tribe, as well as creating prompts for opinions in the chat for anyone to voice their opinions. However, this stood out to me. It's about the entire controversy about Pocono's safety in IndyCar, and how that was exacerbated by a big wreck at the race this month. This is worth a look whether or not you're a fan of IndyCar.
'Hybrid Power: Can it Keep the Good Times Rolling in Motorsport?' - Peter MacKay
This is a longer read, but it's filled with detailed facts and analysis of the present and future of motorsport. Peter MacKay takes us through motorsport history itself to give us all the information, to conclude that "as fans, we must embrace this technology in our sport. We must not allow motorsport to slip into permanent irrelevance for auto manufacturers because this is when the sport dies as we know it." This is a piece you'll want to keep on reading and one where you'll have an opinion at the end.
WEC 2020/21: Where Are We Now? - Joseph Le Corre
WEC (the World Endurance Championship) recently announced its premier series will now be for hypercars, meaning there may be new entrants for manufacturers of such consumer cars. Motorsport Community contributor Joseph Le Corre takes us through two of the manufacturers with the most potential to enter - Lamborghini and Koenigsegg - and explains why and why not they might be a part. There's also designs for what the cars might look like - and they look great. Share your opinion on the entry of those two automakers at the end, as well.
'Nyck de Vries on F1' - Olivér Kováts
Writer Olivér Kováts got the opportunity to speak to promising F2 driver Nyck de Vries about his future and his experience in the sport. The young Dutch driver shared his thoughts on fighting for the championship and eventually getting an F1 seat. I learned quite a bit about the young driver, and found myself hoping he reaches success soon by the end. The article is definitively worth a read.
'The Total 24 Hours of Spa' - Kim Burnett
To cap off the best of Motorsport Community, here's a recap of the Total 24 Hours of Spa from Kim Burnett, who not only tells us his experience, but shares some amazing photographs from the event. He'll make you want to be there next year. Definitely give this piece a read.
Thanks for reading this. Be sure to follow the Motorsport Community tribe, if you haven't already. Also, follow all the writers mentioned above for great motorsport content, and more. There is always so much great content that this decision was very difficult. Keep that coming! Also, thanks to Jan Wagner for the hero image above. Be sure to follow him and his tribe, AutoMatters.
