Today I will be comparing the Mustang GT and the Camaro SS. These cars will score based on performance, practicality, and price. Without further ado, let's jump right in.

In the middle of the muscle car pack, the 2021 Camaro 1SS Coupe comes in at $38,495 without any accessories or options. At $2,375 less than the Camaro, the Mustang GT Fastback tallies up at $36,120. Some of the included features for both cars are, different wheel and tire options, manual transmission, heated seats and steering wheels, turn signal indicators on the mirrors, Brembo brakes, improved sound systems, and so much more. The point for the mid-range trim goes to the Mustang, for being over two thousand dollars cheaper than the Camaro.

The Camaro goes from 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds, and 0-100 mph in 8.8 seconds. It has a top speed of 198 mph, and a quarter-mile time of 12.2 seconds at 118 miles per hour. All this is achieved by Chevy's 6.2L V8 engine. The stopping distance from 60-0 is 99 feet. It has a 60-0 stopping distance of 104 feet. With a 0-60 time of 4.2 seconds and a 0-100 time of 9.1 seconds, it blows a quarter-mile away in 12.2 seconds with a finishing speed of 119 miles per hour. Talk about a close competition. Additionally, the Mustang GT has a limited top speed of 157 miles per hour. Scoring the medians of the Mustang and Camaro lineups should prove interesting. The Camaro scores five points for better 0-60 and 0-100 mph times, better stopping distance, top speed, and tying with the Mustang GT in the quarter-mile. The GT be given two points for achieving the same time as the 1SS in the quarter-mile and a higher finishing speed.

Now, on to practicality. In these intermediate cars, the numbers are pretty much the same. The cars can both transport four people. They both have the same amount of passenger space and cargo volume. 9.1 cubic feet of cargo space, and 93 cubic feet of passenger space for the 1SS, and 13.5 cubic feet, or about half the volume of a large refrigerator, of trunk space and 84.5 cubic feet of passenger volume for the GT. However, since these cars have larger, more tuned engines, they have significantly lower gas mileage than their entry-level brothers. The Mustang gets 18 miles to the gallon, and the Camaro gets 19 miles to the gallon. For this reason, the Mustang will be awarded one point for larger trunk space, while the Camaro gains two points for larger passenger space and better gas mileage.

The Totals
