Well, that was a thriller of a race and it would be hard to recall a more popular win here since Olivier Panis and his epic day back in 1996.

The first half of the race was not much to write home about, but near mid-distance, lead driver, Daniel Ricciardo, radioed in that his Red Bull was losing power and we all thought that was another Monaco victory cruelly snatched from the popular Aussie.

Danny is not one to give up easily and drove the race of his life to cross the line just ahead of Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel and Mercedes star Lewis Hamilton.

Our man on Twitter, @GrandPrixDiary, kept an eye on things there and here are 17 tweets to sum up Danny-Rics day...

1 - One hour to go and everybody NOT called Daniel Ricciardo got their hopes up.

2 - On the grid and Max Verstappen gets a pep talk from Flavio Briatore...

3 - Giedo has his priorities spot on!

4 - Romain Grosjean promptly starts swearing. Early on, even for him.

5 - Lance Stroll's weekend continued to get worse..

6 - And things weren't much fun in the other Williams either.

7 - Normal Ferrari service for Kimi. Natch.

8 - Nearing half distance and everybody is behaving far too politely...

9 - And then, Daniel Ricciardo hits trouble...

10 - Meanwhile, the royal couple go to the shops.

11 - The Last Name brothers are back!

12 - Honda power past one of their old pals...

13 - Ouch!

14 - What happens when you get brake failure exiting the tunnel. Scary...

15 - AND DANNY DOES IT!

16 - Good luck with that...

Royalty don't do shoeys...

17 - NO question!
