The BMW M550i, The Most Exciting "Executive" Daily Driver Out There For Under $75K. Please, Tell Me I am wrong.

Is there really any better way to tackle your daily commute than in a BMW M550i XDrive. Granted you have to be already pretty successful if your daily driver is a BMW in the first place, but this is really taking it to the next level.

The BMW M550i Shows Us That We Can Have Our Cake, And Eat It Too.

Here is a quick run down on the M550i. The BMW M550i employees BMWs versatile 4.4L twin-turbocharged engine. This variant of the 4.4L power plant is putting out a healthy 456 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque. This propels the sedan from 0-60 MPH in just 3.8 seconds and can complete the standing 1/4 mile in just 12.1 seconds. With a governed top speed of 155 MPH, no one is going to be overtaking you on your morning commute to the office. It is unlikely the average executive will be putting down all that power, but it doesn't hurt to know it is there on tap. The majority of the time you just be enjoying the well appoint BMW 5 Series amiantus that adorn the standard 5 Series Cars, all be it with nicely placed touches from the folks at BMW's M division. Their fingerprints are all over this car. With the M550i you can be as subtle as the standard 550i with the engine, steering, and suspension all dialed in to comfort mode. On the other hand you might decided to go a little bonkers and the way to your beach house and let this thing off the chain. In Sport+ mode you will undoubtedly be putting those M features to work.

  • 100% correct. Before the recent facelift i would honestly have an M550 over the M5 because the styling is so much more subtle and rear wheel steering is cool and felt fantastic to use.

  • But for that price you could have a 2 year old Bentley Mulsanne. No contest :

    • John, thanks for sharing. I just checked the same car in US is still listed at $130,000. Sounds like more than just the exchange rate.

    • Jake, Thanks as always for the feedback. All be it short and sweet this time. Aren't you going to throw out an alternate idea? And "no", just because it isn't a truck doesn't make it wrong.

    • You asked someone to tell you you’re wrong and you still get defensive. And a truck is the only vehicle you need. It can carry people comfortably and stuff.
