The BMW X8 M will be an exclusive model independent of the X7
To establish itself in the ultra-luxury SUV segment, BMW will further expand its range. After the impressive X7, it's the X8 M's turn to come to the forefront. We now have more information about the future X8 M. First of all, it won't just be a simple coupe version of the X7.
The X8 M will be much more exclusive and will not succumb to simplicity by using a shared platform as is the case between the X5 and the X6. Next, the BMW M Performance sports division will be in charge of the complete development of the X8 M. That implies something else.
The future X8 M would only be offered in the sporty M version, so you can't expect a standard X8. If you want luxury without any sportiness, you'll have to go for the X7, which is more family oriented. Under the hood, the X8 M should adopt a plug-in hybrid powertrain.
Obviously, there will be no V12 since BMW plans to permanently eliminate this engine. Instead, there will be a 4.4L V8 directly derived from the little brother X6 M. This engine will be combined with a powerful electric motor for a combined power of about 750 bhp and a torque of 1000 Nm. The future BMW X8 M should arrive in 2023.
