The Bucking Bronco is Back
Wishing this was the Bronco I grew up in, but this time I'll get to drive
I have been waiting in anticipation for the return of the Bronco when they teased it 5 years ago. However, my connection to the Bronco goes back to 1996 which coincidentally is the year I was born and the year the Bronco was killed off. My family owned a 1986 Bronco II. Yes, I am well aware of most people's dislike for this particular model, but it has some of my most early childhood memories. I remember the blue cloth interior, the awesome two-tone paint, and my mom stalling out at stoplights. It may have been a Bronco II, but it's my connection to the Bronco legacy.

I watched the unveiling video and fell instantly in love. Let's all thank Paul Wraith, the Bronco chief designer for paying homage to the first gen with bringing that boxy goodness to the 21st century. The color choices for the new Bronco are kind of intoxicating. I may become a sucker for that Cyber Orange. The Cactus Gray or Area 51 come in as close seconds.

As someone who still drives a manual, which are exceedingly rarer every year in the US. I am very pleased Ford has provided us with a 7-speed manual with a crawling gear. The 10-speed automatic looks very enticing, but I'm hoping the manual will do well with new Bronco owners. Whoever designed this interior, especially the stick needs a raise. It is clean and simplistic with just the right amount of controls in just the right places.
I am looking forward to seeing the new Bronco in person and if it feels right, to purchase one of these beautiful creatures. Never forget, we wouldn't have a 2021 Bronco without having a Bronco II first.
