The cars that steal my heart: United States
We aren't on the best of terms perhaps, but I have seen some pretty cool cars from America in recent times. Here are my favourites.
I hadn't intended to discuss the USA first, but hey we don't want to be so terribly predictable, so here we are. So, what american motors would I actually say.......I like?
Chevrolet C8 Corvette:
If this choice of car shows you one thing, it may be that I don't really love Corvettes. In fact they mean nothing to me really. And I consider that fairly obvious because the Corvette fans I do know always say 'ThE oLdEr ThE bEtTeR'........to which I respond 'shh'. Actually correction, they DIDN'T mean anything to me, until the C8 of course.
For a start, it is totally stunning, which I was not expecting from Chevrolet one tiny bit. So good start. You look a little deeper, and it's then that you are truly amazed. It is argued that you can't call this a supercar, but I would passionately dismiss that. 194mph is not only insane, but completely supercar territory. And supercars are about top speed and flamboyance if we consider the fact. Where people stray from the idea is the 495hp figure I'd reckon. But considering of such power coming from it's V8 heart gives the driver of this beauty, I can't consider that a strong argument. 2.8 seconds to 60mph is ridiculous, okay? It's low, it's flashy, it's beyond quick. That is everything a supercar looks like to me at least.
Best of all however, is the fact that you could buy one of these for the same price as a fully loaded Stinger. That is the true mind-blowing stat. To a European like myself, the price tag reads €50,000. I can't think of any car that compares with such package at such a reasonable price. This car should be celebrated. I can't hate Chevrolet for that.
What confuses me about Cadillac is how they do what they do. They are so lost, according to so many. And yet I will sit and look at a picture or two online, and be sold that they've got it all spot on. It looks to me that they've sat and asked 'what would Aaron like?' and that's it. How have they been so outrageous and bold with the CT4-V, and yet so humble in comparison to the 5? It's so confusing, a luxurious monster machine! It should never work. Although I suppose it's fair that there's really nothing very luxurious about it. Still it's awesome. What a job they've done. And I'm not one for great noise and high speeds, but something about this car just........enticies me slightly. That's the best I can say really. Weird....
RAM 1500 TRX:
My time on Drivetribe has changed just two of my opinions. One of those was about trucks. Rubbing virtual shoulders with a certain few has kind of hypnotised me into loving them. I mean everything about the idea of owning a truck is wrong to me. And what a great load of fun that would be. Now of my choices, I ended picking the RAM because the Chevrolet equivalent (is the Silverado the equivalent idrk) is hideous. The Ford is awesome but I think the TRX is just better designed and the stats are better. And I don't really know any other options to tell the truth. To summarise, this thing is what dreams are made of. Totally mad, and a big big want as a result.
I don't really like muscle cars. In fact I don't like them full stop. They just aren't for me. In the same Kias aren't for half of you although in fairness at least my argument isn't outdated at leats mine.....
Ok no this is not the time.
The point is despite my dislike, this car is incredible in my eyes. I really love it. It's mainly the design. It's like a very clam and dignified riot. So neat and well done, yet crazy. I respect that from Dodge, given they are also the makers of my arch nemesis the Challenger. I can't really sit and talk for too long about it, because it's just a feeling. I suppose I just like it and it happens to be american and therefore this article is where it belongs.
And there we have it:
Not sure how you'll take those choices, but there's a comments section for that so do try your best to argue any missed cases I so treacherously left out. T h a n k y o u for reading. Thank you very much you are all surprisingly supportive which is quite a nice feeling. And now it's time for a cup of tea, so cya.
*PS don't forget to share what go to US cars I missed out on*
