The Chevy Beast Concept is the coolest off-roader ever
Following its debut at SEMA last week, the off-roader has been a hit with the automotive community.
Extreme off-road vehicles are some of the coolest cars you can buy however manufacturers have recently started to tone their 4x4s down as they focus on a market which requires practicality over coolness.
Fortunately for off-road lovers, Chevrolet has revealed what they have appropriately called the ‘Beast’ concept. An LT4 supercharged 6.2-litre V8 engine which produces 650 horsepower powers the car which is a whopping 204 inches - it’s perhaps the only thing capable of fighting Godzilla. In order to provide optimum handling, the Beast sits on 37-inch tyres. According to Chevrolet, the off-road suspension was uniquely designed for the Beast and features five-link rear suspension.
There's nothing else like The Chevy Beast," says Jeff Trush, GM program manager, Pace Car and Specialty Show Vehicles. "It delivers a ton of performance and capability, which makes it adept at conquering rough terrain - and it flat-out flies in desert running."
Though it is just a concept, soon many of its parts could find its way to Chevrolet’s production SUVs.
