The end of a short but adventurous and memorable journey on Drivetribe

"and the road goes on forever."

With today's news of the Drivetribe and Foodtribe coming to an end, I'm sure we'll be seeing many users posting their goodbyes over the coming days. Let's all take the time to read them and reflect, as the time spent on these websites has been nothing short of wonderful.

As someone who has only known of Clarkson, Hammond, and May since 2017, it was around 2018 that I joined Drivetribe. At the time, Top Gear was distracting me from a seriously bad time in my life and brought me so much laughter and joy. So when I found DT, it was automatic for me to join.

I've been a car lover since I was a kid, but being in the US I was pretty isolated from knowing much about foreign brands. But I guess I never put in much effort to know more about them. When I watched Top Gear, my eyes were opened to a brand new car world that I had never known, yet quickly loved.

Being on Drivetribe for almost the past four years has taught me even more about cars and the people who love them like I do. It has also helped me recapture my lifelong love of writing and inspired me to finally pursue a career in it, which I have been actively working towards in different fields. I'm happy to say that since the pandemic began, I've been able to leave my bland life of secretary jobs to focus on building my writing career. Because the people of Drivetribe and Foodtribe gave me the opportunity to be part of their Creator's Program, it made me believe in myself as a writer and to pursue other opportunities. I have these websites to thank for that.

Genuinely, I think DT and FT have the nicest people on the internet, and that's something to be proud of. I think it's a very special thing that people from all around the world can come together over a common interest and simply just get along and learn from one another...especially when the rest of the world can seem so crazy at times. These website have been a refuge.

While I haven't been able to post regularly like I wanted to (life gets in the way) I have enjoyed writing every article, creating every quiz, and interacting with everyone here. I have enjoyed reading everyone else's content, seeing all of your great photos, learning of different countries' car cultures. What a fun journey this has been!

"All good things come to an end" is a cliched yet true phrase. I prefer the more poetic lyrics of the Allman Brothers, "and the road goes on forever." Five years of Drivetribe isn't long at all, but in that time there has grown an amazing community of people and I hope you all remember it. I sure will.

I don't use social media anymore, or else I'd share it with you all to stay in touch. I hope that each and every one of you has a happy, healthy, and successful future. It's been a joy sharing this ride with you.

Much love and peace always!

~ Amanda
