At an auction hosted over two days in Olofström, Sweden, vintage car specialists Bilweb Auctions brought to market an impressive collection of classic Volvo cars from the ages.
The sale featured notable members of the Volvo Cars family such as the Volvo PV544 Sport from 1966 and the Volvo ÖV4, or Jakob as he’s affectionately known, Volvo Cars’ first-ever model to roll off the production line in 1927. After a flurry of bidding, both models fetched 650,000 SEK and 1.75 million SEK respectively.
With over 20,000 visitors, the auction was a chance to take a virtual drive down memory lane, not to mention an opportunity to own a piece of the Swedish automotive company’s rich history.
“The auction is a big game changer when it comes to prices for classic Volvo cars. There are of course many factors involved, but I am convinced that the rapidly growing interest for Volvo Cars as a brand played a key role.” Per-Åke Fröberg, Volvo Cars Heritage.
“You’re always a bit nervous before a big auction like this. We’re specialists driving traffic through digital channels but you never know, do you? It was an amazing feeling seeing people that love classics coming to our online auction from different corners of the world placing bids.” Mathias Björkman, Marketing Manager on Bilweb Auctions.
