The fastest Go-Kart in the world does 0-60mph in under 1.5 seconds

2y ago

The R35 Nissan GT-R used to be the standard purchase for anyone seeking 0-60mph thrills but the game has been firmly changed thanks to the world of electrification. Daymak, a Canadian Go-Kart company, have produced one of the quickest four-wheeled vehicles on earth through its C5 Blast Go-Kart Ultimate - an electric take on the same karts that most of us use to settle arguments at the local raceway.

The C5 uses 2400 Watt-hour Lithium Panasonic Cells to power a 10kW brushless DC motor, sending power to what looks like relatively wide tyres for a kart. The company claims that its halo kart can reach 60mph in under 1.5 seconds, but also claims "our technology is just at the early stage. We plan to roll out other cool products, that will take us to a completely different dimension". So they seem to make out as if this kind of acceleration is just the start!

The company will also sell you a less-manic model called the C5 Blast Go-Kart Standard that has everything turned down, resulting in a manageable sprint to 60mph in 3.9 seconds for an impressive £7,800. The Ultimate is vastly more expensive, sitting atop the market at £47,000.

That may seem a tad steep, but there's nothing much on the planet that will beat it to its claimed sprint time. The track-legal world record technically belongs to the Academic Motorsports Club Zurich Formula Student car which managed to get from 0-60mph in 1.513 seconds, also using all-electric power. But seeing as that car is very much a bespoke project, the Ultimate go-kart could be the fastest consumer vehicle on the market.

Would you invest in this go-kart as the ultimate toy? Or would you rather save a bit more for a track-prepped Radical or Ariel? Comment with your thoughts below!

  • This much power in something so small, seems a bit silly in my opinion. Best keep Hammond off these!
