The Ferrari SF90 Stradale can hit 0-60 in 2.0 seconds
It's now become the fastest accelerating production car Car and Driver has ever tested
Ever since it got released into the world, Ferrari's SF90 Stradale has been wowing everyone with its incredible performance, sophisticated AWD hybrid drivetrain and how surprisingly easy and refined it is to drive for how fast and powerful it is. It's quite easily one of the most impressive cars Ferrari have made in a long time. So it comes as pretty much no surprise then that it's set another incredible feat. When Car and Driver tested the SF90 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway very recently, it managed to sprint from 0-60 mph in an incredible 2.0 seconds!
This 0-60 time has given the SF90 Stradale the title of the fastest accelerating production car that Car and Driver has ever tested! This beats a record that was set 7 years ago by the Porsche 918 Sypder, which covered the same sprint just 0.1 seconds slower. During the same run, the SF90 also recorded a 0-30 mph time of 0.9 seconds, a 0-100 mph time of 4.4 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 9.5 seconds at 148 mph. Whilst that quarter-mile time was absolutely rapid and beat the 918 Spyder's time by 0.2 seconds, it wasn't quite fast enough to beat the all-time record of 9.4 seconds at 158 mph that was set by the Bugatti Chiron Sport.
The key to the SF90's incredible acceleration is that new AWD hybrid powertrain. AWD cars tend to have incredible performance from a standing start to begin with because of the massive amount of traction available. Couple that with a super-slick 8 speed dual-clutch transmission, plus the easy ability to put all of the car's 986 combined horsepower onto the road with little to no dramatics, and the result is something mind-blowingly fast!
Will any SF90 owners be able to replicate this feat? Probably not. The Car and Driver acceleration test involved a 1-foot rollout, as it was done on a drag strip. That doesn't diminish the fact though that, in terms of acceleration at least, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale is legitimately one of the fastest road cars you can buy and one where there's no production cap on it either!
