A few weeks ago, we broke news that Speedhunters got up close and personal with a rather unique BMW E93 M3 - one that had a Ferrari V8 for a heart. That heart is a Ferrari F136 V8 engine, the engine came out of a Maserati GranTurismo S and that article left us wanting to hear the V8 run in the E9X chassis. Well as you can see above our wish was granted.

In the video above, Ciro De Siena of Cars.co.za was invited to drive this one off machine. He gives you all of the details from back to front on the machine - finishing with that V8 and of course he drives it and you get to hear that V8 sing. For all the details check out the video above!

  • Why put the Ferrari/Maserati engine in and M3? Why not leave it in the Maserati since that has the more exotic badge!

Effectively they’ve just put the engine in a bog standard 3-series shell as no doubt they’ve had to change all the M3 specific parts so really there will be no M3 left other than badges.

I’d argue that I’d rather they put the 4.4 BMW twin turbo V8 in the car which would be better or just keep the Ferrari/Maserati as it was.

    Sorry but pointless!

    • Conceptually I don’t get putting that engine in the BMW, just leave it in the Maserati. Even for soundtrack purposes which you still get by leaving it in the Maserati.

He must have an overly emotional attachment to the remaining bmw parts!

  • What happened to the BMW engine? Did they stick it in a Supra?

  • Why waste money on that over a 2jz motor that would embarrass that. The M motor was probably just as good. That motor only has around 450. 🤦🏻‍♂️. 👎🏻
