THE FIESTA ST200 REVIEW
A review and insight into what it is like owning and using a Fiesta ST200.
"EPic car to OWN and drive daily"
In this article I am going to be talking about the daily use and overall review on the performance of this car.
To begin with I think this car is brilliant to look at with its aggressive font end styling with the sharp edges around the fog lights. Then you have the DRLs at a downward angle making the front view of the car look even sharper. This is the same on all of the ST180s as long as it is not a ST-1.
Then there is the honey comb style grill which is in a gloss black plastic giving the car a wide looking front. The corners of the grill are sharp edges as well referring back to the aggressive look and styling. The lower section of the front bumper that is slightly tucked in behind the bumper area that surrounds the fog lights gives the car depth as you look at it making it look much more sportier which is what you want from your performance Ford Hatch back. The grill has a ST badge on the front right hand corner as a subtle reminder to those that see the car that this is a proper hot hatch and is top of the range!
Side on this car looks brilliant you have the creases from the front edge all the way to the rear quarter breaking up the long doors. I love this tiny area of design it just makes the car that little bit more racer looking. We normally only see harsh lines and abrupt edges/corners on seriously fast cars.
On the ST200 you get the same style alloy as the normal ST180 but with a twist these come with a Diamond cut edge that goes around the main shape of each individual spoke giving the wheels that higher end finish. Then Ford paint then black this not only makes the luxury diamond cut edges stand out more but yet again its a sports car touch. Petrol heads do associate black wheels with sports cars.
Race red brake calipers fitted to this model, the clue is in the name "race red", good touch. The red is the same red that is on the red ST logo on the seats and on the badge of the cars front and rear and all ties in very well.
Time for the review on how it drives!
Epic is one word I would se to describe the driving experience for this car. I live in a place where there are many back roads and owning a hot hatch back, this car, is the best. Out of the 1.6 Eco boost engine there is just enough power to satisfy your desires as a petrol head. Personally I wouldn't want anymore power out of a car like this as this car is driven daily.
197BHP and 215nm or torque is more than enough in this little car. The balance of power and economy is brilliant and you can use cruise control on the longer roads and rack in the 38-43 mpgs.
However you can then switch the cruise control off and drive a little bit spiritedly and still achieve good mpg. The traction this car gets on the UK roads is second to none in dry conditions. Does not miss a beat!
Chassis feels nice and tight and nimble as when you are blasting down the back roads the car is darting in and out, through the long bends and the shorter harder bends. Then the 1.6 Ecoboost engine is right on top ready to lay down the power and get you down that straight into the next bend. This makes you a very smiley person and gives you a great amount of laughs when driving.
DAILY DRIVE AND COMFORT
Driving this daily is the best of both worlds. There are times when you think Christ bit bumpy but then again your in a Fiesta ST. You can use the cruise control if you need to on the commute making it even easier to drive which can be good if you just want to chill out and cruise on home.
You can blast this car and give it some real stick on a regular basis and i have found that it is always ready to go and go again. However I do let the car warm up and cool down. I am not a user and abuser as I have seen many people switch these cars on and drive to the limit from cold. Resulting in a sad face when car says no.
In the summer you can give it just enough stick to get the tires screeching and it will still grip but this gives you all the sensations you want and is the best of both worlds. As a younger person I don't know what I would rather to drive daily.
Heated front seats to warm you up once you have been out in the cold which in the UK is pretty much everyday. Keyless entry, simply approach the car with the key in your pocket and the car will unlock. Saving all the time remembering which pocket you put your keys in! Automatic headlights so you don't need to worry about turning those off and on this car does that for you! The wingmirrors have puddle lights like any luxury car and power folding wing mirrors which in my opinion is a daily drive aspect as you don't need to manually fold them in if you park of leave the car in a narrower place. Features like this make it more comfortable and usable on a Daily basis as you don't need to worry about the little things.
This is my first Post any feedback would be great!
